Waste Packaging & Handling
Application Description
It is essential that no free liquid be present in the shipping container upon arrival at the disposal facility, as shipments containing free liquid will not be accepted. Because of this “No Free Liquid” clause in their Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC), these facilities strongly encourage the use of absorbing agents to eliminate any free liquids that may develop in the container during transportation.
CETCO Provides
CETCO provides Quik-Solid® Mats, which are a higher performing alternative to traditional fabric absorbent products that are utilized for hazardous, non-hazardous and low level radioactive waste disposal. Quik-Solid® superabsorbent media is imbedded between layers of non biodegradable laminated fabric to ensure maximum polymer retention and absorbency. The roll is then cut to size and placed in drums, boxes intermodal and other transport containers for solidification of aqueous matter and condensation control.
Benefits of Utilizing CETCO Technologies
- Immobilize and eliminate free liquid during storage, transportation and disposal of solids
- Help solids comply with Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) of the final waste disposal site
- Specialty mats that absorb and retain up to > 1.5 liters of water per square foot of media
- Minimum expansion, reducing overall disposal costs
- Non-biodegradable polymer (per 40 CFR 264.314 (e)(ii)).
- Freeze-thaw tested, will not release liquids after freezing and subsequent heating (160º F)
- Delivers superior absorbency while taking up less volume in waste containers
